Delicate finger movements are characteristic of Nihon Buyo.A flower in full bloom, the scattering of petals, the sight of rice panicels hanging, heavy with the ripened grains, even one’s heart/mind is sometimes expressed through the fingers. Since Nihon Buyo is danced in kimonos, the arms are not visible because of the sleeves covering/ them. Maybe that is also why the eyes of the audience are drawn to the fingers.
