OKEIKO 22

The 手(te)=hand is a part of the body. However, "Te" in Nihonbuyo terminology refers to a fixed movement, or a fixed choreography. Not only in Nihonbuyo, but also in sumo wrestling, the “clincher”, i.e. the technique when the winner is decided is called "kimarite” (決まり手).

In Nihonbuyo, the same "Te" appears in various pieces. However, the meaning of the "Te" changes depending on the piece and the role.
