OKEIKO 17
Long ago in Japan, women were educated to be feminine and men to be masculine. In today's gender-free age, people are beginning to understand the importance of “being oneself”. However, in the fictional world of the stage, "femininity" and "masculinity" are sometimes important. In Nihonbuyo there are many cases where the dancer has to play a character of the opposite sex, therefore being able to exude a sense of "femininity" and "masculinity" is an essential skill for a dancer.
